Thesis Abstract / Summary:

In this Dissertation, we will produce a simulation of the runoff that would be generated by particular rainfall events using the Soil Conservation Service model. A freeware software Storm Water Management and Design Aid (SMADA) was used as support. The simulated runoff will be compared with the actual runoff recorded at the Burmarrad runoff recording station. Data on rainfall and runoff was collected from the data archives of the Hydro-Climatological Branch of the Research and Development Section of the Water Services Corporation.

For this purpose, only eight hydrological seasons ranging from 1994-95 to 2001-02 were found to be available for the required task. The period chosen for observation during these seasons, that when the first runoff was generated. Data was filtered and arranged in the required format to meet the objective of this dissertation. Finally, a graphical representation of the results obtained together with appropriate comments were presented.
