This study entitled A Profile and Needs Assessment of Bugnay Farmers’ Marketing Cooperative located at Tuao East, Cagayan was conducted to determine the profile of the seventy six members of the Bugnay Farmers’ Marketing Cooperative as well as identify and prioritize their needs as a basis in the formulation an action plan to address such needs.
The descriptive-qualitative research design and personal interviews were used in the study . The data gathered were then tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using weighted means and percentages .
The results of the study revealed that membership in the Bugnay Farmers’ Marketing Cooperative is dominated by females with a mean age of 49. Twenty three being the youngest and seventy one as the oldest. Almost all the respondents are married and majority have reached high school level as their highest educational attainment.
The mean household size of the participants is 4.22. Majority of the participants are in their houses doing household chores. As to ethnicity, majority of the participants are Ilocano. The mean annual income of the participants is P39,526.32 and a mean annual expenses of P38,980,26. The cooperative officers are minimal in number in as much as they are very young in operation. The top priority need of the participants on Entrepreneurial Development Skills is product making with product labeling as the least priority. As to capability building a training on leadership and values re-orientation ranks number 1 on the list with Internal Control, Strategic Planning and Audit Management as the least priority.
