Varietal Trial Of Peanut (arachis Hypogeal) Under Marginal Soil In Luna, Apayao

This study was conducted at San Isidro Sur , Luna, Apayao from October 2013 to February 2014 to determine which variety of peanut can be adopted in our locality.
A field with an area of 144 sq. m was used in the study using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) and it was divided into five equal blocks. Each block was divided into three equal plots for the three varieties that were used in this study: BPI Pn. 9, NSIC Pn 14, and NSIC PN 11.
The result of the study shows that the highest percentage of germination is BPI Pn.9 (T1) and the least percentage of germination, but T3 (NSIC Pn.11) has the highest in terms of filled pods. The number of pods per plant and the number of unfilled pods, T1 ranked first and T3 is the least . T3 (NSIC Pn.11) has the heaviest weight of 100 seeds in grams but the yield per plot showed that T1 ranked first among the treatments that were used.
The analysis of variance showed that no significant differences was observed among the treatments in terms of the percentage of germination, and the number of filled pods per plant. The number of pods per plant, pest infestation yield per plot and the weight of 100 seeds(g). However, the number of unfilled pods is highly significant.
