Thesis Abstract / Summary:

This study was conducted at San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao from November 1, 2013 to February 8, 2014 to determine the yield loss of soybean crop community as affected by varying degree of leaf pruning at different growth stages.

The field with an area of 294.5 m2 was used in the study adopting the Factorial in Randomized Complete Block Design. The area was divided into three equal blocks and each block was divided in twelve equal plots for the allocation of the two factors namely: Factor A (Number of the leaf removed) and Factor B (Time in pruning).

Result of the study with regards to the interaction between the two factors: Factor A (Number of Leaf Removed) and Factor B (Time of Pruning) showed that in leaf increment (7DAE to 42DAE), T2R4 produced the highest number of leaves and T1R3  produced the least number of leaves. In leaf Increment (42DAE to 70 DAE), T3R4 produced the highest number of leaves and T1R2 got the least. In leaf increment  (70DAE to 80DAE), T1R4 produced the highest number while T3R3 produced the least. T1R3 got the longest period of days to flower. T3R4 gained the highest number of productive nodes, pods, filled pods, seeds per pod and computed yield per hectare while T1R3 got the lowest. T3R3 produced the highest number of unfilled pods while T2R4 is the lowest. T2 &T3R3 got the heaviest weight of seed while T1R4 was the lowest.

Analysis of variance showed significant differences as observed among the leaf increment (7DAE to 42DAE & 42DAE to 70 DAE), number of days to flower, number of productive nodes , number of pods, number of filled pods, number of unfilled pods, number of seeds /pods and the computed yield per hectare. In leaf increment (70DAEto 80DAE) and in weight of 100 seeds per plot, it showed no significant differences with regards to the interaction of the two factors.
