Abstract Category: Education

Published in: 2003

Report Abstract / Summary:

The report presents a review of a two week visit to Abcott Middle School, San Mateo, California, from the 10th to the 21st of December 2002. My aim in undertaking this visit was to observe management, administration, curriculum, and pastoral provision and be able to compare it with the local situation.

The report gives an extensive look at the school set up, its aims and objectives, the structure of the school administration and the job description of various posts. Emphasis is also made on the curriculum arrangements and options relevant to modern times. School strategies and policies are also analysed.

I evaluated such an enriching experience in the light of educational theories and tried to bring forward any relevance to the reform currently taking place in the local situation in line with National Minimum Curriculum.
