Paper Abstract / Summary:

Business intelligence (BI) is an important area of practice and development as per the today’s business approaches with competitive advantage of the decision supporting systems. BI processes are concerned with the broad areas of user friendly application interfaces and technologies for data Integration, Processing and analysis. The BI features and functionality facilitate with taking raw data stored in databases or externally available data sources and turning it into meaningful information in the form of reports for enterprise users which can be used to monitor their business.

So BI reports can be used internally and externally throughout an organization to make tactical decisions, reduce costs, streamline operations, build better products, increase sales, or extend customer relationships. Hence with quick convergence of decision supporting systems, Analysis in addition to reporting began to live in a world that has sharing everywhere. Effective collaboration of the excess of reporting and presentation engines that vary largely in size, design, build capability and presentation inside become a challenge, at the same time an opportunity to learn. Because of the unparallel user experience provided, collaborative reporting are becoming the essential components for always on, continuously associated and high performance decision supporting in persistent business environment, usage scenarios of them have grown explosively just in a couple of years.

Different enabling technologies could be the players of this recreation of flexibility, Innovation and better reactivity. To name a few of them with high throughput SAP Business Objects, IBM Cagnos, Microsoft Reporting services and Oracle OBIEE reporting, MicroStrategy Reporting Suite and some other open sources, with cross technology representation or better user interface and advanced data presentation analytics. Hence this paper lays down the comprehensive overview of the Business Intelligence reporting trends, techniques and standard activities with the significance of business Intelligence reporting along with dashboards and data visualization for collaborative reporting and effective decision supporting systems.
