Industrial processes increasingly involve the use and manufacture of highly dangerous substances, particularly flammable, toxic and oxygen gases. Inevitably, occasional escapes of gas occur, which create a potential hazard to the industrial plant, its employees and people living nearby.
Worldwide incidents, involving asphyxiation, explosions and loss of life, are a constant reminder of this problem. In most industries, one of the key parts of any safety plan for reducing risks to personnel and plant is the use of early-warning devices such as gas detectors.
These can help to provide more time in which to take remedial or protective action. They can also be used as part of a total, integrated monitoring and safety system for an industrial plant. This system is intended to offer a simple way for the detection of gas.
It provides an explanation of both the principles involved and the instrumentation needed for satisfactory protection of personnel, plant and environment.
The primary objective of the designed work is to provide a novel means for safely detecting any malfunction of a pressurized gas system in order to prevent accumulation of combustible gases so that damage or explosion due to such an accumulation of gases is prevented. The designed system with the help of MQ 2 gas sensor which can detect the leakage of LPG gas and can turn off the valve automatically and display the gas leakages.
Technology today is expanding widely and seeing its heights in all the areas, especially in the area of embedded system .It is true that every electronic gadget that is used in daily life is an embedded system. This work designs is one of such an embedded applications.
Aim to design an embedded system for gas leakage detection system is based on embedded microcontroller which is used for monitoring and control the leakages of gases in through the pipe line using gas sensors.
