Thesis Abstract / Summary:

The study was conducted to prepare home-made bio-liquid fertilizers out of plant and fish materials and conduct field trials to determine the effect to the growth and yield of bell pepper.
The experimental method of research was employed in the study with the Randomized Complete Black Design (RCBD) consisting of five treatments and four replications. The treatments used in the study were: Treatment I (fish), Treatment II (water spinach), Treatment III (banana), Treatment IV (sweet potato), and Treatment V (control).

The highest yield of bio-liquid fertilizer out of the plant and fish trimmings/entrails with 34.67 percent, followed by young banana stalks with 33.78, then sweet potato leaves/tops, banana tender bracts, and fish trimmings/entrails 233.33, 235.50, 337.8, and 346.70 ml. of bio-liquid fertilizers were produced, respectively.
The results of the analysis divulged that fish-based home-made bio-liquid fertilizer had the highest content of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium of .77, 1.01, and 6.21, respectively.

Treatment I (fish) had the highest plants, followed by treatment III (banana-based), treatment IV (sweet potato-based), treatment II (water spinach-based).The shortest plants were observed in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.
The treatment with the highest average plant expanse was Treatment III (banana-based followed by treatment I (fish-based), treatment IV (sweet potato-based), treatment II (water spinach-based). The least expanse was obtained by the plants in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

The treatment with the most number of leaves was treatment I (fish), followed by treatment III (banana) and treatment II (water spinach). The least number of leaves was obtained by the plants in treatment used in the study.

The heaviest fruits were harvested from treatment III (banana-based) , followed by treatment IV (sweet potato-based), treatment I (fish-based), and treatment II (water spinach-based).The lightest fruits were harvested from the plants in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.
The treatment with the most number of fruits harvested in each plant in each treatment was treatment III (banana), followed by treatment I (fish),

Treatment II (water spinach), and treatment IV (sweet potato). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.
The biggest fruits were harvested, from treatment III (banana), followed by treatment I (fish), treatment IV (sweet potato), and treatment II (water spinach). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

Based from the foregoing findings of the study, the following conclusions are listed:

1. Treatment I (fish) had the highest plants among the different treatments while the shortest plants were observed in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

2. The treatment with the highest average plant expanse was treatment III (banana-based) while the least expanse was obtained by the plants in treatment V. There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

3. The treatment with the most number of leaves was treatment I (fish) while the least number of leaves was obtained by the plants in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

4. The heaviest fruits were harvested from treatment III (banana-based) while the lightest fruits were harvested from the plants in treatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

5. The treatment with the most number of fruits harvested in each plant in each treatment was treatment III(banana) the least number of fruits harvested was in treatment V (control) with a mean of six fruits. There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

6. The biggest fruits were harvested, from treatment III (banana) while the smallest fruits were harvested fromtreatment V (control). There was a highly significant mean differences between the different treatments used in the study.

Based from the foregoing results, the researchers recommend the following:

1. The use of home-made bio-liquid fertilizers from plant and fish materials should be encouraged for use of farmers to cut farm input costs as well as not pose hazard to the environment.

2. Further laboratory analysis should be undertaken for home-made bio-liquid fertilizer preparations todetermine the other chemical properties and micro-organism content of the fertilizers.

3. Other plant and animal materials available in the locality should be utilized for the preparation of home-made bio-liquid fertilizers to broaden the raw material base of the fertilizers.

4. Field trials should be conducted using other high-value crops to find out the effect of these home-made bio-liquid fertilizers to as many crops as possible.

5. Different concentrations of these home-made bio-liquid fertilizers should be tested to find out the best amount that gives the best result to the growth and yield of crops.

6. Trials on the shelf life of the fertilizer preparations should be performed in order to determine the extent of storage time that the preparations can take.
