This study with a title “ORTHOGRAPHY AND THE MINASBATE DIALECTAL EQUIVALENTS OF SCIENCE TERMS”, aims to get the Minasbate dialectal equivalents of the identified science terms.
Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of: a. Municipality they belong, and b. Age (Teenager, Middle age, and Aged people)
2. What are the orthographies of the identified science terms in Minasbate dialect?
3. What are the Minasbate dialectal equivalents of the identified Science terms?
The most important objective of this study is to contribute to the development of Minasbate dialect in the field of Science by researching on the orthography and exact Minasbate dialectal equivalents of the identified science terms.
The study made use of questionnaire as the instrument to gather the necessary data. The questionnaire is made by the researcher and it undergoes certain validations and corrections to make the most from the study. The questionnaires were distributed to the different respondents of this research coming from the different municipalities of Masbate.
To show the reliability of the research results, the following variable were considered in choosing the respondents of this study.
As to Municipality where the respondents belonged, the researcher identified 30 common people from each municipality considering their numbers of years stayed in their respective municipalities. As to their age, the researcher selected 10 teenagers, 10 middle age people and 10 aged people. This is done to make the results of the study more reliable since it is known to us that there are dialectal differences considering there generations.
The researcher made use of fish bowl sampling in every municipality to gather the research data fast and easy.
Findings
Based from the specified statement of the problem, the following were the results of this study;
a. As to the respondents of the research, there are 21 municipalities existing in the province of Masbate involved in the gathering of data in this research. Each of the municipalities has its own original dialect which is considered as Minasbate.
Out of 630 respondents there are 210 teenagers, 210 middle aged people and 210 aged people responded in this research.

Conclusions
Based from the foregoing findings the following conclusions are made:
a. As to the respondents’ age, orthography and Minasbate dialectal translations of the teenagers and aged people differ.
b. As to the orthography of Minasbate dialect, we used more “i” that “e” and “u” than “o” in most of the Minasbate dialectal translation of the science terms
c. As to Minasbate equivalents or equivalence, Minasbate dialect has exact and existing dialectal translations of the identified science terms which can be considered as Masbate’s original dialect.
Recommendation
Based from the results and conclusions, the following recommendations are specified:
a. That there must be standard in the orthography of Minasbate dialect.
b. That the result of this study can be used in solidifying the Minasbate dialect.
c. That further studies can be conducted to add more data and verification to this study.
